We were joined by Will Taegel, Ph.D.   Dr. Taegel is Dean of the Wisdom School of Graduate Studies. He has a Native American background and traditional training in shamanic circles along with a 30 year practice of psychotherapy, including a stint as Chair of the Texas State Board of Examiners in Psychotherapy. He has academic interests in evolution and trauma, as well with a practice of rain water collection, solar and wind energy, and environmental restoration. Dr. Taegel is the author of 8 books and numerous professional articles. He was among the first researchers to connect clinical and cultural disturbance with human estrangement from the sacred core of Nature and, in that regard, to build a number of ongoing eco-spiritual communities and is the co-founder, with Judith Yost, of an eco-spiritual, integral practice community called the Earthtribe.

We spoke about Dr. Taegel’s book, “The Mother Tongue:  Intimacy in the Eco-field,” about eco-fields, the psychological and ecological reasons to get closer to the earth, and all sorts of really interesting topics!!  Dr. Taegel recommends walking barefoot in damp grass to connect to the earth and to help us to feel whole.  Here’s another suggestion by Dr. Taegel:  Go outside and allow yourself to connect to different aspects of the environment around you, such as the trees, the grass, perhaps, a fire-fly flying by.  Offer gratitude to each aspect and wait…sense gratitude coming back to you!!

Find out more about Dr. Taegel, read his blogs, find out about his books, events, and more, by going to www.earthtribe.com.  Find out about auditing classes or becoming a student at Wisdom University.  Join the free monthly on-line gatherings by e-mailing Dr. Taegel for the link:  [email protected].  Stay tuned for his upcoming book about his work with the great Medicine Man, Bear Heart, “Our Grandfather Bear.”
