And Dr. Mara with Info on the proposed Tax Bill and How It Will Potentially Impact Seniors, Caregivers, Boomers, and the Disabled. Dr. Mara also gave her first tip from her new series: Tips for Caregivers – Near and Far.
Tip #1: Utilize every available resource.
Research, research, research. And don’t be afraid to call and ask an expert, no matter if they are a total stranger, for help, advice, information. Think of anyone you have met or heard of who works in the area of geriatrics or caregiving or look for someone on-line and contact them. They may not have the answer or the time to respond, but you won’t know until you try. No answer? Move onto the next expert. Older adults make up the fastest growing segment of our population, so there are experts popping up all over. In addition to professional experts, be sure not to overlook your biggest resource, friends, neighbors, and associates, as many of them/us may be ahead of you in dealing with aging loved ones. It’s the most frequent conversation these days when I get together with my friends, how to take care of Mom and/or Dad. Also, look for local caregiver resource centers and contact your local Area Agency on Aging.
