Gene Lantz, President of the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, joined us to talk about some important issues now affecting retirees in all of America, saving Medicare and Social Security, what TARA is doing about those issues, and how we can all get involved. If you’re in Texas, check out the TARA website. There are 39 states that have a local charter group, so check out to see if your state has an Alliance for Retired Americans. Meanwhile, anyone can join the national organization, Texas Alliance for Retired Americans. OR contact Gene directly at: GeneLantz.org/contact/. You don’t have to be retired or even of retirement age to get involved. This affects all of us, as Medicare and Social Security are currently under attack.
The temperature has dropped all over the nation, even here in Austin, TX. The wind is blowing, the sky is cloudy, and many are feeling cold and gloomy. The holidays are coming and, while this brings joy to many, there are many others who feel the pain of loss, loneliness, and/or financial stress even more acutely during this time. And, then, we have the stress and fear of the unknown with the coming new year and the coming changes in the nation and the world. So, how do we manage to find JOY in the midst of this? Dr. Mara began this discussion on today’s program…and it will be continued in January, when the Vorail.com community gets involved with some of their responses to this question of how they find joy. She invites all listeners to send her an e-mail telling us how you find joy in the midst of the turmoil. She will read some of the answers on-air on a future program. Send an email to [email protected].
And Art Mendoza of Accomplice Entertainment filled us in on some upcoming musical interviews and we played some of his music.
