In honor of Veteran’s Day, recent recipient of the Service to Mankind Award, veteran MSG Will Williams joined us in the studio. MSG Will Williams let us know about the fund-raising event run by the children from the School for the Blind, through the Lion’s Club of Austin. They raised over $14,000 to buy Christmas presents for the children of local veterans. He asked that all listeners send an e-mail to Lions International, [email protected], thanking the children (the Leos Club of Austin) for their amazing fund-raising to bring Christmas to the families of veterans. If the children get enough thank you’s, they will appear on the cover of the Lions Club international magazine. Will also spoke about Heroes Night Out, in Central Texas, which offers emotional and social support for veterans, their families, a well as non-veterans. They offer support groups and social gatherings, including a monthly magic show and peer-to-peer dinners. Find out more at their website above or call: (512) 986-7660.
