It was another GREAT show, thanks to my very interesting, entertaining, and informative guests!! *Note: We ran into a bit of an audio problem at the beginning of the show, but by the time my first guest came on, at about 30 min into the show, everything was smooth.
Author of the new book, “Walking the Journey Together…Alone: Finding Peace, Hope, and Joy in the Middle of the Sh**,” Lorna Scott joined me from Alberta, Canada to talk about HER journey and how she found peace, hope, and joy! Lorna gave her perspective on overcoming caregiver stress and she talked about many of the lessons she learned along her journey as caregiver for her terminally ill husband. As a Certified Passion Test Facilitator and Owner of Accelerated Success Consulting, Lorna has become a coach for caregivers, helping others to find peace, hope, and joy along their caregiver journeys! The musical duo, RagTop, (Renee and Jim Oliphant) has been on my show a few times when I was on local Austin radio. They joined me once again from Roanoke, VA this evening to talk about what they’ve been up to in the last few months since the last time they were on the show. Renee and Jim just recorded a new CD and are in the midst of a Kickstarter project to fund the finishing touches of the CD. They also continue to perform all around VA. If you’re in VA, check out their calendar of performances. To find out how to participate in the Kickstarter project, to advance-purchase their new CD, to find out where RagTop will be playing, to watch their videos, or to contact Jim and Renee, go to: MyRagTop.com OR check out their Facebook page: facebook.com/MyRagTop.
Veteran, MSG Will Williams has become a “regular” on my show. He served for 21 years in the military, during which time he won 30 awards and ribbons. Since retirement, Will has been involved in a variety of causes and community organizations aiding veterans and non-veterans, children and adults. Will came on the show this evening to talk about an upcoming event that he is participating in, Carry The Load, which will take place on Memorial Day in Burnet, Texas. This is a 20 mile march to honor fallen heroes and to bring awareness to the growing problem of PTSD. During this march, each participant will carry an 80 lb. pack, honoring a fallen hero or veteran suffering from PTSD who they are “carrying” on the march. Will has agreed to carry an EXTRA 80 lbs. during his march (for a total of 160 lbs.), in order to raise $10,000 for families of fallen heroes. Anyone is welcome to participate in the 20 mile march or any portion of the march. Or come out just to cheer them on or volunteer to give out water! Not near Burnet, TX? You can sponsor a walker on-line or donate. Find out more by going to: CarryTheLoad.org.
In addition to April being National Stress Awareness Month, it is ALSO National Humor Month!! AND…Monday, April 14, is International Moment of Laughter Day!! So… I spoke about the health benefits of humor and laughter, of which there are MANY, and some ways to observe this wonderful holiday!! Some of my favorites: show your baby pictures to someone who’s never seen them; get naked, look in the mirror, and laugh; or just laugh for no reason at all!
And Crystal did a great job as sound engineer on this show! She was working hard to work her magic and make it all run!! Thank you, Crystal!!
