This time, Dr. Gates discussed how social justice is viewed from a systemic angle and her recently published chapter, her first international publication, “Academic Motivation of Black Women and Black girls in Education: Challenging Maslow’s and Bandura’s Theory with a Bell Hooks Twist” in the book, New Trends and Promising Directions in Modern Education – School Dropout. It was a very interesting discussion that brought into view, not just what happens in the classroom, but in homes, on playgrounds, and on our media.
