You can hear the podcast of tonight’s show right here! It was awesome!
And you can ALSO listen on Apple podcasts right HERE! We were joined from Toronto by Christiana Egi, RN, geriatric and mental health specialist, author, and owner/operator of Alexis Lodges, providing person-center care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. Christiana talked about Dementia and her children’s books, including her book, A Rose for Grandma, explaining to children why their grandparent might be acting differently, and she let us know how we can be most helpful to improve the quality of life for loved ones with dementia. Canada’s National Ballet School came into Alexis Lodge to create a documentary about the power of dance for people with dementia. You can see this lovely short film right here: Dancer Not Dementia: A Short Film. Listen to Christiana’s podcast right here: Our Forever Young Podcast. And Dr. Mara continued her discussion about how we can obtain quality care for our elders in long term care in spite the obstacles, all while living a passionate life.
