A Quick Thought or Two About Moving From Pain to Inner Peace
“Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced.” ~ James Baldwin
I don’t believe it’s possible to focus on Gratitude without first acknowledging pain. Don’t get stuck in the pain, anger, sadness… But look straight at these emotions, don’t fear them. They deserve to be recognized as valid emotions. State them to someone whom you trust, write them down, sing them out, sweat them out, through dancing, running, playing…. And then, when you feel that you have fully given them your attention and your heart rate is back to a slow gentle beat, turn your attention to the peacefulness that always exists within, breathe….and notice what exists in your life to be truly grateful for. Write it all down and allow yourself to celebrate gratitude.
