Missed the program? It was AWESOME!! And you can hear it all right here!
Iowa Congressional Candidate & Long Term Care Ombudsman of the Iowa Dept on Aging, Kim Weaver, joined us, once again. Kim works as a “Senior Advocate” for the very important, Federally-mandated program, developed as a result of the Older Americans Act. Kim Weaver is now running for Congress for 2018 elections in the State of Iowa. She discussed her passion for seniors and her proposals to help seniors as a Congresswoman. Find out more about Kim’s run for Congress and how you can help, even if you don’t live in Iowa, by going to: WeaverForCongress.com. You can also follow her on Facebook and Twitter.
Veteran, First Sergeant Will Williams, a friend of the program and the winner of multiple awards for his service in the community (in addition to his multiple medals during his military service), was back to join us! Will is now part of some new volunteer organizations and he let us know about many of the ways we can help!….It’s good for our own emotional well-being to give back! Find out about the Honor Flight for WWII, Korean War, and early Vietnam War (up to 1967) veterans in September! Find out about the huge annual Memorial Day Weekend Bar-b-que at Reunion Ranch put on by Heroe’s Night Out. Check out the many ways to get involved with the Texas School For the Blind and Texas School For the Deaf…and all of the many other ways to help this in need in our community, including the monthly food distribution to the homeless and scholarship programs for children (these help veterans and non-veterans alike!), by going to ShareTheWill.org.
Share The Will is now partnering with another organization, Apoyando a un Angel Foundation, and he brought Ricardo Lopez to the interview to discuss their scholarships for students to attend college. These scholarships are not based on having extremely high grades, but to give even students with average grades a chance to make it in college. Find out more at their Facebook page.
Our guest artist was jazz trumpeter Cindy Bradley, who joined us from New York City to talk about her career in music and what plans she has for the future. AND we played some of her music! Find out more about Cindy, follow her tour schedule, and purchase her music at CindyBradley.com.
And Dr. Mara talked about spending 5 minutes right now to meditate. There’s nothing elaborate about it and no need to be perfect. Just do it!
