Dr. Michael Mascha, who has been written up in Time Magazine and the New York Times, is the creator and publisher of www.FineWaters.com, a web site portal that is the leading resource about fine waters from around the world!  He is also the author of the book, “Fine Waters – A Connoisseur’s Guide to the World’s Most Distinctive Bottled Waters.”  Michael spoke about actually ENJOYING water and not viewing drinking water as a chore.  He talked about becoming a water connoisseur, where one can taste the differences between sources of water (such as an ice-berg vs. an ancient spring) and can become passionate about understanding the history of these sources from around the world.  It’s certainly a healthy.  Water is necessary for life…and some sources of water are higher in the minerals that our bodies need.  You can find out more about enjoying waters from around the world and you can find out about his book, by going to: www.FineWaters.com.   We also spoke about Michael’s photography and his painting.  He will be having a gallery opening for his photography in Brownsville, TX, on July 31, at The Gallery 409.  You can find out more about his  photography, by going to:  www.Fine-Art-Nudes.org

The very talented NYC recording artist (via Austin, TX), singer, songwriter, violinist, Johnny Arco came back to the show to talk about what he’s been doing since he was on my local Austin radio show.  Johnny spoke to us from a street corner in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, where he was plucking a new tune on his violin!  He told us that he’s been performing all over the country and has started his own record label, in addition to his street performances, and he’s been working on putting together a non-profit organization to benefit fine arts education in the schools.  Check it out: FAER: Fine Arts Education Reform 501(C)3.  You can find out more about all of the amazing things Johnny Arco is doing, you can listen to some of his music, see his YouTubes, find out where he’s performing, and buy his CD’s all at:   www.JohnnyArco.com.

Venus DeMarco has previously been on this show to talk about her book, “The Healing Journey of My Bodacious Ta-Ta’s,”  chronicling her journey from breast cancer to health via all natural treatments and a change in her food choices.  She came back to talk about the launch of her new cookbook, “My Bodacious Healing Kitchen,” available on download.  Venus got my appetite going with her descriptions of these delicious, all original, easy recipes.  All of the ingredients are healthy and healing foods.  Even meat-lovers will enjoy these recipes, although they are all vegan (and, as Venus said, no animal was harmed in creating these recipes).  All of her recipes are gluten free (for those with gluten intolerance), dairy free (for all those with lactose intolerance), and refined-sugar-free, low glycemic (good for anyone with diabetes).  And, since Venus loves TASTEY food, they are all quite DELICIOUS!!    If you download the book before August 15, you can get the INTRODUCTORY SALE OFFER of $11.97!  Find out all about Venus and her books, sign up for her free newsletter, AND get this sale-priced download, by going to:  www.VenusDeMarco.org.

I had a chance to ride on a float with the Blue Star Mothers in the Round Rock July 4th Parade.  Cindy McNally is the founder and president of the Wilco (Williamson County) Blue Star Mothers and she joined us to talk about this national organization made up of mothers who now have, or have had, children serving in the military.  She spoke about who they are, what they do, and how you may get involved wherever you live to help support families who have loved-ones who are active military AND those who are veterans, trying to readjust to civilian life.  WilCo Blue Star Mothers supports the entire Central Texas region and is not just made up of mothers, but also fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and anyone who wants to be of support.  They meet every 3rd Saturday at 10:00am at the Heroes Night Out veterans’ support center in Cedar Park, TX.  To see about joining this important group or to see how to support them in any way that you are able, go to:  www.WilCoBlueStarMothers.shutterfly.com OR  Email:  [email protected].  If you are not in Central Texas…or even in Texas, check out the national website and/or find a chapter near you: www.BlueStarMothers.org.

Speaking of water…I spoke about how you can help with providing clean drinking water to children on the Horn of Africa who do not have access to clean drinking water.  $10 buys one Life Straw personal filter to purify water and provides at least 1,000 liters of clean water, which is good for one person for one year.  You can find out more by listening to the podcast of my interview with Pastor Dave Koppel and Tino Hernandez, which aired on February 23, 2014 AND by going to: www.WaterForAfricaCentralTexas.org.

I also spoke about the public health crisis that is going on right here in the U.S.A., involving thousands of households having their access to running water being turned off in Detroit as we speak.  You can find out more about this very important issue by going to: www.UUSC.org.  You can also find out more about how to have help to keep YOUR water from being turned off, if you live in Detroit, right here: Need Help? Here are some resources to avoid water shutoffs.
