Aralyn Hughes, Editor and co-Author of the new book, “Kid Me Not: An Anthology By Child-Free Women of the 60’s Now In Their 60’s,” with a forward by Elizabeth Gilbert (Author of “Eat, Pray, Love”), along with 2 other authors of this anthology, Norma Inman & Judy Johnson Ballard, joined us to talk about their new book and what they faced being child-free women of the 60’s. It was a really interesting discussion and the book is definitely worth reading, for women and men, for parents and for child-free adults, alike! Gloria Miranda, Program Manager of Caregiver Services & Senior Center Operations for Caregiver SOS & the Harlingen Senior Community Center, joined us from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas to talk about this great resource in the RGV, as well as throughout Texas. Caregiver SOS is the best kept secret for caregivers (unpaid, non-professional caregivers)! Gloria told us about a variety of FREE services available for caregivers, including training seminars, Stress Buster seminars, peer support, family mediation, help in finding appropriate services, and physical fitness! Caregiver SOS, in Harlingen, is located at 512 Victoria Lane. There is also a Caregiver SOS in McAllen, Corpus Christi, and 2 centers in San Antonio, TX. ALSO… I spoke about the health risks of Sugar, the Sugar-Depression and Sugar-Anxiety link, as well as why you want to eat more sugar once you start (Sugar is addictive and has actually been found to be more addictive than cocaine!). I also spoke about how to break the sugar addiction and get back on track!
